What was your first tattoo?
When I was 15 my boyfriend led my down into a dark dingy basement -in MA tats were still illegal- and a heavy biker dude all dressed in leather inked a rose (Rose is my middle name) on the left side of my back. You would search unsuccessfully to see it now though. Ive covered that area twice. The first coverup was when I spent 33 hours inking my body in leopard spots and then ten years later I covered my back with a corset framed with Roses so Ive actually come full circle.
Is it true that getting tattoos is addictive?
Tattoos are addictive as fuck. It’s an artistic way to dissolve pain; physical pain releases emotional pain. AND I love how my tattoos create a uniquely identifiable image that is all my own. When I was 13 I had a baby and my body was left with massive scarring that terrorized me; I was a teenager dealing with adult and elderly issues. But tattoos helped me mask much of the physical scarring and in effect helped me fall in love with my body again.
If you were voted Inked Magazine's cover girl, what would you do with $25,000?
I would sponsor a teen or young woman in attending a self love retreat with me and create a non profit that mentors young girls. I didn't have much guidance growing up and I fell into sex and getting high because I though it was fun and it would get me what I wanted; love and acceptance. Really it only brought me heartache and kept me right in the unwanted place in life I was at. My goal is to share my experience and teach young woman how to understand their minds and nurture their souls.
